Quick Update
Sorry We haven't blogged anything in awhile. We officially own our own home now!!! Yeah, we are in the process of moving. Saturday is the BIG day. All the heavy stuff gets moved then. Ru loves her room upstairs. She can run all around up there. Pictures to come later.
Ru Update
Ru is growing leaps and bounds. She knows her colors pretty well- especially if you show her M&M's - she has all those colors down really well. She is in the process of potty training. She has going potty down pretty good but the poopie is a battle. Any suggestions we would appreciate. She is also starting to be afraid of the dark specifically afraid of the ceiling fan. I don't know how it happened but just one day she started getting scared. From what I read that is a sign that she is figuring out that when something moves or something makes a sounds something is causing that. So Alan has been telling her that Jesus is with her and that everything is okay.
Isaiah Update
Isaiah is eating better these days !! Which is wonderful because he refuses to take bottle- ALL of them. Not one will he drink from. BUT on the plus side he eats rice and oatmeal cereal and I just gave him organic baby peas which he ate the whole jar !!! So that makes me feel tons better. My mom gave him a banana when she was here and he liked that as well but he had black specs in his poopy which kinda freaked me out. We will see what the peas look like.
Isaiah also just sat up by himself for about five seconds. Hopefully he will continue but he still LOVES to be held and to cuddle. My mom and grandma (and grandpa too) didn't know the extent until they came here. I bet he was held almost all day. Isaiah especially loved my Grandpa. They chilled together :):)(In between all the painting and moving boxes)
Well that all I got for now. Hopefully we will get pictures up of our house soon.

Funny things Ru says
Story #1
So Alan and I have had some trouble getting Ru to eat her dinner so we told her if she didn't eat her dinner she could not have anything for the rest of the night and would have to wait til morning for breakfast. So she choose not tho eat her dinner a couple of nigth back. Well, she was hungry and wanted some food and I told her no. SO later on that night she was on the potty chair and Alan had Isaiah. Isaiah started crying and I yelled out to Alan not to put him to sleep because I need to feed him.
Then Ru in a whiny yet sweet voice says "FEED MEEEEEE". It was so cute it took all I had not to start laughing.
Story #2
So it snowed tonite. Thats right folks March 31st and we had a freakin blizzard. Not quite that bad but they were calling off school and evening classes. And for all you Texans out there it take a lot to call off school up here. Anyway, while we were walking to the door. I told Ru to say "Snow, snow go away come back another day" She said it and then turned to me and said " BUT I WANT TO KEEP IT". I know she is being such a traitor to her southern roots.
Okay well that's all I got.
4 month old Update
So Isaiah went to the doctors this morning for some shots and a weigh in. He weighs in at 14.6 lbs putting him in the 35 percentile and he is 26.25 inches tall putting him in the 80 percentile on height. And just for kicks his head circumference measures 18 inches putting him in the 100 percentile !!! He's gonna be a smarty :) He still loves his cereal and digests it well. He loves to be held and loves to cuddle. Oh and he loves his chupie of course- maybe even more than his sissy (just kidding).

He likes Food !!
Well, I must say this little guy ate his first taste of food with fervor. He LOVED IT. He ate two heaping teaspoons and then another teaspoon. He was so excited. He kicked his legs and kept his eyes wide open. I am so surprised how well he did for his first taste of cereal. I just hope his little body handles the food okay.

The Final Sacrifice

In honor of remembering Christ's death today, Ru and I made lamb cut out cookies and then frosted them. I tried to make the frosting red but it turned out pink. Ru had a blast frosting them while I explained why we were making them. Of course she doesn't quite understand- but someday we pray she will and that she will remember the goodness of Christ's death on the cross for her sins . . .

4045 12th Ave S
We think we found a keeper. We have a contract on this house and expect to close April 10th. It's located about three miles from downtown and very close to many of our favorite haunts. It will be about three times farther from where I work than our apartment was. I still hope to commute by bike 90+ percent of the time.

Shout out to Cousin Brittany and Katie

Over the Christmas time Ru fell in love with her second cousins Brittany and Katie. (My cousins) They are in 6th and 4th(??) grade. They played with Ru ALOT while I talked with the rest of the family and tended to Isaiah. Anyways, Ru and I were playing Ring Around the Rosies, a game Brittany and Katie played endlessly with Ru during Christmas time. Ru stops in the middle of the song and says " Brittany , Katie, Mommy, Isaiah, Nana, Papaw, and bacon too". Which translates into "During Christmas time Brittany and Katie played Ring Around the Rosies with me. Nana and Papaw became my parents for the weeks. Mommy was busy with Isaiah the whole time and I got to eat a LOT of bacon!!!

Are they related??

I never thought it would happen but my two kiddos are SOOO different. I was thinking during church how they have completely different characters. If you remember Ru was so independent from birth. She screamed to high heavens as a baby and slept really well probably due to her screaming fits. She never liked to cuddle and transitioned to a big bed without a hitch. She loves playing with other kids and CRIES when she has to leave to come home with mom. She went through only a short period of attachment to me. It lasted like a week when she was around 7 months.
Isaiah LOVES to cuddle and be held. He will fall asleep if you lay down beside him or have your hand on him. He loves when other people coo at him and flirts with them as well. He raises his little eye brows and gives them a big gummy smile.
Isaiah does not sleep nearly as well as Ru. He wakes up three sometimes four times during the night. He also doesn't scream like Ru did but has more of a whimper. I have a feeling he will be more attached to me when he gets older but only time will tell.It will be an interesting ride seeing how their characters continue to grow and change the older they get. Hopefully they will encourage one another in their good attributes and scold one another in their sinful ones.
****EDIT: After Nana read this review she had a BEEF with me. I failed to mention that Ru is also a very polite little girl. She says please and thank you pretty consistently. She even says it to servers at restaurants. Not to mention how sweet, loving and adorable she is. Oh and she has become a painter a.k.a writing on the walls!!!

Rachel gets crafty
At MOPS today we made resurrection eggs and key chains. I have never made resurrection eggs and didn't have a clue what to do with them until today !! Basically you go through the resurrection story with your kids and each egg contains different items to symbolize different events. In the eggs consist of a palm branch, coins, bread. feather, rope, soap, crown, cloth, cross, stone,(nothing) cuz HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD, clouds. Then there are versus to read for each egg and the kids get to open the egg when it comes time in the story. So cool. I love the idea.
Then other thing we made is key chains. May I say this had been pretty handy for the three hours I have had it:):) With two kids and having to open two different doors to get into my apartment this makes is so much easier because I wear it around my wrist with my keys attached. It is a great idea for me. I love it. And you don't have to be artsy and crafty to make it. Please, I wouldn't be able to do it. I don't have an ounce of artistic ability. I leave that to my poetry and song writing husband.
